Behind the cause

Our longtime partners at the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Kenya are renowned for their work with elephants, operating the most successful orphaned baby elephant rescue and rehabilitation programme in the world. Led by Angela Sheldrick, daughter of pioneering conservationist and founder Dame Daphne Sheldrick, the Orphans Project has successfully hand-reared and released more than 250 orphaned elephants back into the wild. This vital mission is reinforced by a holistic approach to conserving Kenya’s share of the 400,000 wild elephants remaining in Africa, down from 1.9 million in 1979. This includes anti-poaching and mobile veterinary units that protect the elephants and other species in their natural habitat and give immediate assistance to animals in distress, as well as outreach programmes that engage local communities in these conservation efforts.

With each cushion we will donate one bottle of milk to feed rescued orphan elephants in the care of the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.

How can you help directly?
Rescued orphan elephants require special milk formula to survive. The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust’s team of keepers bottle feed the nursery orphans freshly mixed milk every three hours. You can purchase 2 bottles of milk—enough for one milk feed for one orphan—for £5. Chantecaille will match each feeding you purchase.
